Käufer/Verkäufer meldet sich nicht

After a purchase, buyers and sellers exchange contact information via email and handle payment and shipping directly with each other. If the other party does not respond, there is a fixed procedure for this – you are not alone in this.

First: contact your trading partner directly.

Check whether the best bidder's email might have ended up in the spam folder, and contact your trading partner via messages. You can find your counterpart's address under My Purchases or My Sales for the respective process. Often, it's just a vacation or a dead email address behind it.

Start reminder

If it remains silent, start a reminder for the respective purchase or sale: as a buyer "remind seller", as a seller "remind buyer". You specify the reason. Your trading partner then receives an email and a system notification in their account - the message reaches them even if their email address is no longer working.

From the start of the reminder, deadlines begin to run; the date from which further steps are possible is directly listed in the process. If your counterpart does get in touch, you can retract the reminder with "Buyer has contacted me" or "Remove reminder".

If the deadline has passed

As a seller, you then have two options:

• Offer it to the second bidder – the item goes as a "second chance" to the next highest bid. The second bidder sees the offer under "Offers to Second Bidder" and can accept or decline it.
• Verkauf stornieren – der Handel wird aufgelöst und die Verkaufsprovision gutgeschrieben.

If there is no second bidder or if they also do not respond, the cancellation remains. Simply re-list the item afterwards – how to do that is explained under unsold items.

What you should consider

A purchase is a binding contract: A reminder is not a means of pressure, but a documented request to fulfill it. Evaluate only after the process is complete. In case of suspicion of fraud, contact eGun and read "Prevent Fraud – Trade Safely."
