For items where the seller has allowed it, you can suggest your own price instead of bidding. Both parties will be notified by email as soon as the other responds.

On the item page, enter your price and submit the proposal. The seller can accept, reject, or make a counteroffer – to which you can respond in the same way. If one party accepts, it's a purchase like an immediate buy.

Your own bids can be viewed under "Bid suggestions." There, you can withdraw a bid at any time as long as the seller hasn't accepted it – so you don't have to wait.

As a seller, respond

Received offers are also listed under "Price offers": accept, reject, or counteroffer, each with a tip. It's your turn as long as "You're up" is displayed there.

The option "Allow price suggestions" is set when you list the item; it is subject to a fee. You can use it as soon as you have at least two ratings or are a certified member. For listings with multiple items, your account must have been active for at least one month (or be certified).

When a bid ends

• When bidding on the auction, the possibility of a price proposal is waived, and ongoing negotiations end.
• If the item ends without an agreement, the proposal expires.
• The item will be automatically re-listed, and open bids will continue in the new offer.

Expired offers remain visible under "Price Proposals" for 14 days – with the reason ("Auction was bid on", "Rejected by the seller" ...) and, once the item is back in the market, a button to renew it.

What you should consider

An accepted bid is a binding purchase – only suggest prices you are willing to pay. Once a bid is received, the seller can no longer edit or delete the item, even after rejection or withdrawal.
